At the recent Annual General Meeting of the Royal Life Saving Society Western Australia (Inc) four of the organisations professional staff where presented with Life Membership of the Society for their outstanding contribution to water safety.  The four staff members are very well known to LIWA Aquatics members and it was wonderful recognition for their commitment to our industry.

The four staff  members presented with Life Membership by RLSSWA President Ross Peters were as follows:

 Ian Robert Brown

  • First role - Community Liaison Officer (Many roles within the organisation since then).
  • Current role - Manager of Business Operations.
  • Started in1994 (15 years).
  • Description of current role - Manages the business units of Training and Administration of finance and business operations.
  • Key Accomplishment - Development of RLSS and growth of its business operations and industry relationships.  Ian was pivotal in the development of Competency Based Pool Operations Training for the aquatic sector.

Gregory Robert Tate

  • First role - Swimming Education Officer.
  • Other roles since then - Manager of the Physical Education Assistant Program and Manager of Community Health.
  • Current role - Executive Manager of Community Relations.
  • Started in 1994 (15 years)
  • Description of current role - Responsible for the management of ten staff within the business units of Community Health and Community Lifesaving.
  • Key Accomplishments - Development of the Keep Watch program and reduction of drowning incidents in W.A.  Establishment and ongoing development of the Remote Aboriginal Swimming Pool Program.

Jacqui Lamb

  • First role - Receptionist.
  • Other roles since then - Training Coordinator, Trading Coordinator and Administration Manager.
  • Current role - Trading Coordinator.
  • Started in 1991 (18 years).
  • Description of current role - Manages the member's area and public booking area for the RLSS training department.
  • Key Accomplishments - Created and manages the current RLSS course guide. Coordinating the Honours Awards Dinners.

Peter Michael Leversuch

  • First role - Heart Beat Club Officer.
  • Other roles since - Community Eduction Manager, Swim and Survive Manager, Safety Risk Manager and Event Coordinator.
  • Current role - Executive Manager of Aquatic Services.
  • Started in - 1992 (17 years).
  • Description of current role - Executive Manager overseeing the RLSS Risk Management services, Home Pool Inspections, Rescue and Revive and Swim and Survive departments.
  • Key Accomplishments - Involvement in developing a relationship with LIWA Aquatics which has seen Peter inducted as a Life Member of that organisation. Introduction of a RLSS Pool Lifeguard Award program and started the process of establishing a formal qualification for Pool Lifeguards.  Assisting the WA Health Department with their Code of Practice for Aquatic Facilities. Establishment of the RLSS Call Centre operations.
