Elizabeth Quay

Perth's new water park and free community entertainment space at Elizabeth Quay has received a $10 million boost. BHP Billiton will fund the water park element of Elizabeth Quay, which will give it naming rights to the park.

The $2.6 billion quay development will include residential, commercial and public open space. The water park funding was welcomed by Premier Colin Barnett. "That is a large and extraordinary and generous contribution by BHP Billiton and I think sets an example to others," he said.

BHP Billiton iron ore division president Jimmy Wilson said the company believed the quay development would shape Perth's CBD. "We believe that this is going to be an iconic development and something that will change the Perth skyline, and will change Perth as we know it," he said. The water park will be located in the north-west corner of the quay at the corner of William Street and Geoffrey Bolton Avenue.
